I'll be open. It's seemed very strange that there's so little discussion of Dakota's movies, her roles, or her talent. I've found her talent so appealing that I've recently become a little bit of a student of film making and acting just to try to appreciate and understand the base of Dakota's success. (I even read Michael Caine's nice little book on acting; it's not for actors only.) I'm coming around now to believe that there were many of her movies that, without something like Dakota's special talent, could not have been anywhere nearly as good, or should have been dropped altogether. Think $s and you can figure out what this has meant. (Unbelievably, I've got a DVD of one of her movies where she had a large role and a breathtakingly good peformance, yet her name isn't even on the front or back cover except down in hard to read block letters at the bottom of the back side.) Anyway, it seems to me that the work of such an actress is worth discussing. Unless there's an interest in Dakota's work, why would anyone visit this site at all? Yet, there's almost no discussion. It might be -- but I'm not sure -- that there isn't much discussion because the site isn't set up in a way that encourages it or attracts fans who have something to say.
One idea I've had is for you (Stephanie) to create spoiler threads for each of Dakota's movies (at least the feature films with Dakota in a lead role). You could seed each thread with a warning post for those who haven't seen the movie yet. Also, a warning about R or PG13 rated quotes from a movie (or discussion about same) would be courteous. Almost all of Dakota,s movies have not been G/PG little kid's movies. The best way, I think, to discuss Dakota's work is, at least on some threads, to take off the spoiler and rating restrictions.
It would also be nice to have a place where one could ask questions in the hope that someone else heard some whispered words correctly or understood why something was/was not done. Again, I think the best place to do this would be in spoiler threads.
In some cases, maybe someone has no intention of ever seeing a particular movie but would like to read spoiler comments by others.
Of course, the content and the age demographic you're aiming for at this site are entirely your own business. I've made a suggestion that would, if it attracted people to participate, make this site much more interesting to me.
BTW, one thing I'm not interested in is privacy violating photos by anybody follower Dakota around. Look at what happened to Kristen Stewart; she's really really hurting because of this problem. I don't want Dakota to be hurt like this and the only way I know of to do something about it is to not consume the photos; I don't need them.
Reality and reason--values to live by.
I'm assuming the summer '10 changes already took place. If so, this is how I see the layout (1920x1080 monitor), it's kinda hard to see navigate, just be on the page overall, cause everything's on the left, making it centered would solve the problem.
As for the site overall, I just joined, still exploring it, seems really good. The forum, gallery, info on the girls, everything's great.
Seems like all that the site needs now is more active members.
Games would be nice. Puzzles, quizzes and such. Getting more discussions started as well.
Why not affiliate with livejournal communities? Many LJ users are active in forums, a community to affiliate with is bbdakotalife, also the many twilight communities. It's filled with Dakota fans.
