People will probably run to The Runaways, the story of the pioneering seventies girl group, to see Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett earn a bad reputation she doesn’t give a damn about and little Dakota Fanning as 15-year-old Cherie Currie strut around the stage in skimpy outfits ch-ch-chanting that she’s a ch-ch-cherry bomb and join Stewart in some heavy Sapphic smooching. In patches it’s agreeably lurid, but it’s otherwise ho-hum. Although Jett is the co–executive producer and Stewart the star, the Jett character is mostly a bystander: She stands by as “rock impresario” Kim Fowley (Michael Shannon) assembles the pubescent girl band (as Malcolm McLaren assembled the Sex Pistols), then stands by some more as Currie, the group’s blonde-bombshell mascot, falls apart from the drugs and sex and Fowley abuse. (The film is based on Currie’s slim autobiography, published little more than a decade after the Runaways imploded.) As onetime member Victory Tischler-Blue’s documentary Edgeplay makes clear, the vibe among the bandmates was never good, and since the music itself is secondary, there’s not a lot to this story. The film is all externals. Shannon looks scary and stops the show with his rants, but he’s too endearingly damaged, too nice, to convey the real Fowley’s otherworldly creepiness. It’s Fanning’s movie: You can taste the ex–child actor’s relish for playing “jailbait.” But can she be ogled in good conscience? The taste is sweet and sour.

When Oscar winners thank "the members of the Academy," who, exactly, do they mean? Who actually belongs to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, that august body that votes on the Oscars? Well, the membership rolls include past winners George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, and Jack Nicholson ... and Dakota Fanning.

Yep, believe it or not, the never-nominated Fanning received an invite at age 12, proving you don't need to be nominated -- or old enough to vote in an actual election -- to be a voting member of the Academy. While the group has never made its entire roster public, it has, in recent years, begun announcing new members, such as 2009 inductees Viola Davis, Casey Affleck and Anne Hathaway.

In 2006, the year Fanning was invited along with 119 other newbies, the Academy was making a concentrated effort to get some young blood into the organization. "Most people ... think it's probably a bunch of elderly people," AMPAS director Bruce Davis told the Associated Press. "They're not thinking Scarlett Johansson and Maggie Gyllenhaal, they're thinking really old guys. That's a hard perception to overcome."

Of course, there's another angle to consider: Underage member Fanning might not even receive R-rated movies like 'The Hurt Locker' and 'Inglourious Basterds,' which could end up skewing the awards (oh so slightly) towards more kid-friendly fare like 'Avatar' or 'Up.'

Neither Dakota nor Elle has an official MySpace, Twitter, Facebook, Friendster, Bebo, etc. account.

There are, however, several fake accounts that will try to convince you they are real. Some of them even have photos you might not have seen before. These were taken from one or more of Dakota or Elle's classmates' accounts, most likely without their knowledge or consent. Do not allow yourself to be fooled! These people are playing games and get joy out of tricking people.

If Dakota or Elle gets an official account on one of those sites, I'm sure they'll let us know so they can talk to their fans (and their fans can talk to them), if they wish to communicate with fans in this manner.

After a series of sneak peeks, the first full trailer for "The Runaways" has finally been unleashed. Premiered by Yahoo! Movies, the video gives a preview to how the rock band are formed, land their first record deal and live in their success. It additionally gives a preview to another song from the movie's soundtrack, beside "Cherry Bomb" which has been featured in the previously released snippets.

"The Runaways" is based on the 1970s all-girl rock band of the same name, which were brought together in late 1975 by impresario Kim Fowley. Being expected to be an easy sell with a novelty act of teenaged girls performing in leather and lace, the girls ended up proving to be serious and influential musicians.

The film itself will cover the formation of The Runaways through to Cherie Currie's departure at the peak of their success. It will also highlight the relationship between lead vocalist/keyboardist Cherie and guitarist/vocalist Joan Jett.

Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart take the lead roles of Cherie and Joan. Scout Taylor-Compton, Stella Maeve and Alia Shawkat are also recruited to be Lita Ford, Sandy West and fictional character Robin respectively. Directed by Floria Sigismondi, this biopic will open wide in U.S. theaters on April 9.

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning are not just acting in the movie The Runaways but they are also lending their vocals to some of songs in the movie too. Finally the audience got a sneak peak to one of the songs of the film performed by Dakota and Kristen; it is the “Cherry Bomb”. The duo has the right glam quotient to pull of the biopic, but do they really have the vocals to pull off the punk vocals of Joan and Cherie?

You got to hear it yourself to judge that. While Cherie Curie is all praise of the film and thinks that the young actresses were able to do justice to their characters adding, “Wow, this is really good”, but The Runaway fans are still having trouble accepting the actresses’ version of the songs. Mainly they find the vocals a bit juvenile, but one does give them the credit for trying their best and is able to capture the attitude and the grit of the performance of the band.

Kristen on the other hand has said she was more nervous about performing the songs rather than locking lips with her co-star Dakota.

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning have put their new rock star skills to good use by re-recording four Runaways tracks for the soundtrack of the upcoming biopic about the all-girl band.

The songs will be part of the soundtrack of Runaways - Music From The Motion Picture, alongside tunes from David Bowie, Mc5, The Stooges, Sex Pistols and Joan Jett.

It's the first time either actress has contributed to the soundtrack of a movie.

Stewart, who portrays Joan Jett in the film and Fanning, who plays Cherie Currie, have revamped The Runaways' Queens of Noise and Dead End Justice together, while a solo Fanning has re-recorded Cherry Bomb California Paradise.
