New Stuff!
 Be sure to check out the Fans section (#6 in the navigation area) for some new stuff. We have an avatar maker and of course some word games: hangman and word scramble. There are various things to do under User Gold as well (you might want to go there first so you get some Gold to play games with). Coming soon is the Gift System, where you will be able to send items to your friends on Fanning World. Update: All gifts other than the Winter/Christmas and Valentine's Day ones have just been added.
On another note, I need some trivia questions about Dakota and Elle! Please PM me your question along with three choices for anwers. Be sure to mark which choice is the correct answer. The User Gold trivia quiz(zes) will start on August 15th. I will be adding items to the store and to the gifts section, so be sure to keep coming back.
You must be a member to view the "Fans" section of this site. If you're not already a member, you can join for free.
Note: Starting August 1st, new users will no longer need admin activation. On a positive note, you will get to post here sooner, since you will be able to login as soon as you verify your email address. On the negative side, you will no longer be getting the welcome email with your Membership Card and Member Packet. Membership Cards will be available upon request and the Membership Packet is in the Downloads section of the site. Membership Cards and Member Packets for 2011 will be emailed to every active member in December 2010 or January 2011.

Spoilers Subforum
 The Spoilers Subforum has been started. If you want to request to add a movie or TV show, please PM me.
I will try to get the threads up for the newest movies first and then slowly add them until we get threads for all the movies and shows. (If I post them all at once then it will clog the "Latest Active Forum Threads" list.)

Google Translate Bar
I added a Google Translate Bar to the top of the screen. This is intended to be a way to make our site accessible to non-native English speakers. Just choose your native language from the pulldown menu and Google will translate our site for you. :)
Although the site is able to be translated into other languages, please remember that you must only post in English. If you need help with your English, you can always go to a translation website, type what you wanted to say in your native language, and they will give it back to you in English (and then copy and paste that onto the website).

New Theme!
I just made a new theme and re-arranged the site panels a bit. The login is now at the top of the screen.
This theme was inspired by the Paramore site.
The idea behind the new theme is to encourage more fan interaction. Before, either the forums were at the top (and it looked like there wasn't any news) or the news was at the top (so people didn't really pay much attention to the forums). Now they are side by side. :)

Site Suggestions Needed!
 Other than the obvious Gallery that needs to get done, what suggestions do you have for Fanning World? What ideas do you have so we can get more members?
If you're browsing, please register (it's free) and leave your ideas in the comments. I notice we get quite a few visitors/reads but few if any comments. This is a fan community so participation is encouraged!
I notice our fanbase on Facebook has grown a bit over the past few weeks. This is great news! Hopefully it will continue to grow in the future as more and more people see their friends "like" Fanning World and decide to join as well.
We also need suggestions and feedback for Fanningzine. What do you want to see? What do you like? What would you change? Volume 5 will be all PDF/Flash, so the Fanningzine will be clickable/interactive starting with the March/April 2011 issue.

Dakota's 13th Birthday Gift Thank-you Note!
 In late January 2007, I bought two 13th birthday bracelets from Abernook. One went to Makenzie Vega (b. Feb. 10, 1994) and the other went to Dakota Fanning (b. Feb. 23, 1994). Makenzie doesn't usually reply to her fan mail, but I did eventually learn that she received (and liked!) her bracelet. I didn't hear back from Dakota and just assumed that she got too many gifts to reply to them all.
Today I was looking for 13th birthday gift ideas for certain girls who will turn 13 next year and I came across their site again. Apparently, what happened was that since I mailed the present to Dakota directly from the site, the message I sent for her got lost so it looked like the site staff bought her the bracelet! So now on their site on the page where you order the 13th birthday bracelet is now a thank-you note from Dakota!
 
I honestly don't remember if I got the bracelets myself or if other people chipped in on them that year. But either way, Dakota really liked her bracelet. It's too bad it took us 3 1/2 years to find out, but better late than never, right? ;)

Breaking Dawn Update
 As you probably know, Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final installment of the Twilight saga, will be presented in two parts.
But what's new is that IMDb has confirmed that Dakota will reprise her role as Jane and appear in Part 2! The film will be released in 2012. Part 1 (without Dakota/Jane) will be released 18 November 2011.
Filming for both parts will likely take place in late 2010 or early 2011.

Dakota Fanning Shapes Up
  Dakota Fanning stays in shape and hits the gym on Wednesday (July 14) in Los Angeles.
The 16-year-old Eclipse actress was joined by her personal trainer for a private lesson.
Dakota currently covers this month’s Marie Claire magazine where she dishes about her onscreen kiss with costar Kristen Stewart for the Runaways. In the US, you can catch the kiss by picking up a copy of the Runaways next week when it comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray.
